The sixty minute warning buzzes.

Klack, klack, klack.

Erich gets out of bed. He does a few stretches and some knee bends to get the blood flowing.

Klack, klack, klack.

The steady rhythm of traveling over the tracks had induced yet another nap. He missed a lot of beautiful Canadian forest scenery.

Erich inhales a deep breath through his nose and holds it. The lingering smell of the forest had been filtered away while he slept. No nature scents remain, just sanitized air and the metallic aroma of the train.

He lets the breath out. At least there will be hiking tomorrow.
